Using Powerful Slam Poetry To Empower Purposeful Empathy

Kintsukuroi: Building with Purposeful Empathy Keynote - Award-winning slam poet and speaker S.C. Says utilizes spoken word poetry to create emotional anchors for audiences to truly comprehend and appreciate how practicing more empathy can improve their relationships, careers, and communities. The presentation is funny, heartfelt and truly moving and will absolutely change the way you see empathy and the people around you.

Slam Poetry Writing Workshop - In this hour-long workshop S.C. Says guides new and experienced writers through the tools he’s used to write moving and competition winning slam poems. S.C will give participants writing tools as well as two writing prompts designed to encourage creativity and authenticity with time to write to each prompt.

Empathy Deep Dive Workshop - In this hour-long workshop S.C. Says creates space for participants to discuss the themes and poems expressed during my show, and lead them through two activities designed to facilitate a more empathetic disposition. Participants will get to identify and vocalize aspects of their lived experience that we don't get to talk about in our everyday conversations, and master a tool they can use to foster more empathy in their own lives and in their communities.

Empathy + The Arts Professional Development Session - In this 90 minute session, S.C. Says guides professionals through leaning into the prerequisites of empathy; Curiosity and Vulnerability. Participants will work through two activities and discussion questions they can implement in their classrooms to help cultivate a culture of Purposeful Empathy.
